CHAPTER NINE

Blair

I can't believe I agreed to do this. Just when I think our plan to fuck with my father can't get any crazier, Sean goes ahead and ups the ante one more time. My body is full of electric energy as I sit in the extra lush seat on the private plane. Sean brought in the family jet for us to go to Las Vegas. I've never been, and it's always been on the bucket list for me to go there.

"Blair?" Sean calls out for me, and I'm so on edge I nearly give myself whiplash from turning so fast.

"Hmm?"

"Is everything okay? You've got a fucking death grip on the arm rests." He gestures with his chin in the direction of my hands. When I look down, he's right. I'm holding on so tight, I'm surprised my nails don't cut through the supple leather of the seat.

"Oh, sorry." I straighten out my hands and move them away.

"You don't have to apologize to me, I just want to know that you're okay. You still down to do this, right?" He asks me, tilting his head to the side and squinting his eyes at me.

"Yeah, sure. Why not? It's just a normal fucking day that I'm on the O'Dea family jet being whisked away to Las Vegas, so I can marry the one man no one wants me to marry. All of that sounds perfectly normal to me." Sarcasm rolls off my tongue and a lean back against the seat hard.

"You want to go home?" He asks, his face taking on a serious expression that lets me know that he'd tell the pilot to turn around right now if I asked him.

I look out the window again and lose myself in the snow-white clouds. It's so beautiful out there. So peaceful. I wish my life could be like that, and right now, the only time that it's been even slightly peaceful is when I'm with Sean. I know this isn't real and in due time, I'm going to need to move on with my life when he decides to break it off with me but for right now, he's making me happy.

"No, I don't want to go home, I'm just so nervous. I know this is all for fun and games, but I'm a little scared that this is going to rub people the wrong way and the both of us will end up paying for it with our lives. You know who my father is, and I know who your father is. Neither one of them are men I'd want to play games with if I wasn't part of the family. I'm just worried." My head drops and I let my shoulders slouch forward.

"Worried? No, we can't have that." Sean gets up out of his seat and reaches out a hand for me. I follow his lead, but I'm a little caught off guard, simply because I'm not used to traveling in such style. My father never sprung for me to fly in a private jet.
